Abstract： Objective To analyze the development of monkeypox research field,and explore its research overview,hotspots,and frontiers.Methods The literatures related to monkeypox were searched in the databases of China rational knowledge internet(CNKI),VIP,Wanfang data and Web of Science(WOS),and the number of published paper,authors,publication institutions,keyword co-occurrence,keyword clustering,and clustering timeline were visually analyzed with Citespace software.Results There were 158 literatures in Chinese and 1 536 literatures in English selected which were published from January 1,1993 to July 31,2023.There were few domestic researches,and almost all were independent and scattered,and most research institutions were quarantine bureaus and research centers.The foreign researchers were in close contact with each other,and schools were the main publishing institutions.In this research field,except for the theme word,the keyword with the highest frequency was vaccine.Meanwhile,the keyword co-occurrence network formed by domestic research focuses on monkeypox virus,monkeypox,smallpox vaccine,epidemiology,prevention,etc.The keywords co-occurrence networks formed by foreign researches were centered around monkeypox virus,infection,vaccinia virus,virus,smallpox,etc.The clustering of keywords in Chinese and English was divided into 5 categories.The timeline indicates that the research focus gradually diversified and attracted people's attention after 2000.Conclusions The research of Monkeypox is in a period of rapid development,and prevention and vaccine are the focus of future research.The cooperation and exchanges between different research institutions should be strengthened to expand research results and improve research efficiency.
