Abstract: Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of 1%ropivacaine spray for relieving postoperative pain in children with tonsillectomy. Methods A total of 64 children who underwent bilateral tonsillectomy or tonsillectomy with adenoidectomy(T&A)were selected from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery,Yanbian University Hospital(Yanbian Hospital)from April 2022 to April 2023.The experimental group received 1%topical ropivacaine spray, and the control group received 0.9%saline spray.Pain assessment was performed by Wong-Baker facial expression scale, and pain scores of the first, second, third and fourth postoperative days in the morning and evening of the two groups were recorded. Results The pain scores of the experimental group in the morning and evening of the 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th day after surgery were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions The use of topical 1%ropivacaine spray to relieve postoperative tonsillar pain in children is easy to operate, with fewer side effects, which is clinically useful.
