Abstract: Renal interstitial fibrosis(RIF)is a crucial and irreversible element that speeds up the advancement of diabetic nephropathy(DN)to end-stage renal disease.DN-RIF,which is mostly caused by long-lasting inflammation,is greatly affected by the NOD-like receptor thermal protein domainassociated protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome.This inflammasome plays a crucial role in trig-gering inflammatory reactions. The inflammasome has a significant impact in worsening DN-RIF by triggering processes related to in-flammation,oxidative stress, and autophagy. This paper thoroughly analyzes the role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in the development of RIF and explores the possibility of traditional Chinese medicine in specifically targeting this inflammasome to reduce the severity of RIF.The primary objective is to promote progress in treatment approaches for the management of recurrent RIF.
