Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of probiotics combined with bismuth quadruple therapy(BQT)on upper abdominal pain, sour regurgitation and belching, nausea and vomiting scores in patients with Helicobacter pylori(Hp)-associated chronic gastritis. Methods A total of 146 patients with Hp-associated chronic gastritis treated in the Department of Gastroenterology of our hospital from January 2020 to June 2021 were randomly assigned into observation group(n=27)and control group(n=27).All patients were managed by BQT,and those in observation group were additionally treated with probiotics. The aim was to compare Hp eradication rate, symptom score, index of serum gastrointestinal hormone and serum inflammatory factors,as well as adverse reactions. The curative effect was assessed. Results The effective rate(94.52%vs 79.45%)and Hp eradication rate(87.67%vs 61.64%)in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(both P<0.05).The symptom scores including upper abdominal pain, sour regurgitation and belching, nausea and vomiting were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, significantly higher pepsinogen(PG)Ⅰ,PG Ⅰ/Ⅱ,interleukin(IL)-2,prostaglandin E2(PGE2),heat shock proteins(HSPs)and lower PG Ⅱ,gastrin-17(G-17),IL-4,IL-10 were found in observation group than those of control group(all P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions(dizziness, insomnia, nausea, bloating, rash, diarrhea, constipation)decreased notably in the observation group compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Probiotics combined with BQT has significant effects in patients with Hp-associated chronic gastritis, which can effectively improve the Hp eradication rate, relieve symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, sour regurgitation and belching, nausea and vomiting, regulate serum gastrointestinal hormone levels, inhibit gastric mucosal inflammatory damage, reduce adverse drug reactions, and with positive clinical significance.
