Abstract: Objective:To learn the efficacy of 30%supramolecular salicylic acid(SSA)combined with intense pulsed light(IPL)in the management of moderate to severe facial acne.Methods:60 cases of moderate to severe facial acne treated in our clinic from January 2021 to January 2023 were included and divided equally into two groups, the control group and the observation group, according to the lottery method. The control group was treated with a common medicational strategy for 8 weeks, while the observation group was given additional SSA and IPL.We can evaluate the improvement of lesions based on the lesion pictures taken before treatment and 4 weeks after the last treatment. We can assess the progress of the facial acne scar and the quality of life based on the ECCA grading scale and dermatology life quality index(DLQI),evaluated before and 4 weeks after the last treatment.Record the adverse events during treatment, such as edema, burning sensation, bullous, hyperpigmentation, infection,et al.Statistical analyses were performed according to all data. Results:The cure rate and total efficacy rate of the observation group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The ECCA score and DLQI score of both groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment(P<0.05).The ECCA score and DLQI score of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of edema, bullous, hyperpigmentation, and infection between both groups had no significant difference(P>0.05).The incidence of burning sensation in the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:In managing moderate to severe facial acne,30%SSA combined with IPL can improve the lesions, mitigate the acne scars, and improve quality of life with reasonable safety.
