Abstract: Objective To investigate the application value of semaglutide combined with metformin in blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)complicated with iron deficiency anemia. Methods The clini-cal data of 90 patients with T2DM combined with iron deficiency anemia admitted to Quanzhou First Hospital from January 2021 to January 2024 were retrospectively selected and divided into two groups according to different treat-ment methods, with 45 cases in each group.Control group using metformin treatment, observation group with metfor-min and semaglutide combined treatment, the blood glucose level, islet function and clinical curative effect were com-pared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results Before treatment, there were no statistically signifi-cant differences in blood glucose level and islet function between the two groups(both P>0.05).After 3 months of treatment, the blood glucose level of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of treatment, the fasting insulin level and home-ostatic model as-sessment of insulin resistance index of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and home-ostatic model assessment of islet β-cell function index was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The clinical efficacy of the observation group was higher than that of the con-trol group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion In the blood glucose control of T2DM patients with iron deficiency anemia, the addition of semaglutide on the basis of metformin can improve the blood glu-cose level and islet function, and the effect is significant.
