Abstract: Objective To analyze the efficacy of acarbose and metformin in the treatment of diabetes. Methods A to-tal of 90 diabetic patients admitted to Tianjin Binhai New Area Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the study objects. They were divided into two groups with 45 cases in each group by dice method. The control group was treated with metformin, while the observation group was treated with acarbose and metformin. The blood glucose index, islet function index, blood lipid index and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The three indexes of blood glucose in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment, the insulin secretion index of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the insulin resistance index was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically signifi-cant(both P<0.05).After treatment, the two indexes of blood lipid in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(both P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Acarbose and metfor-min are effective in the treatment of diabetes, which can not only improve blood glucose control, but also improve the function of pancreatic islets in patients with high application value.
