Abstract: Objective Quantitative evaluation of the influencing factors of carotid pulse wave index(PWVI)in hypertensive patients based on ultra fast pulse wave(ufPWV)technology.Method A total of 121 healthy adults who underwent ufPWV detection in the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2018 to August 2022 were selected as the modeling group, and another 208 patients with hypertension were recruited as the experimental group. The results of general data, physical examination, laboratory examination and ufPWV imaging examination of all patients were collected. The modeling group obtained the theoretical elastic index equation using multiple stepby-step linear regression analysis. Then PWVI was calculated using this equation to further analyze the influence of atherosclerosis risk factors on PWVI.Result The theoretical elastic equation obtained from the modeling group was terminal contraction pulse wave velocity(PWV-ES)(m/s)=0.083×age(years)+0.036×mean arterial pressure(mmHg)+0.681×sex(female=0,male=1)+0.164,accordingly,the experimental groups were divided into elastic decline group(n=115,PWVI≥0)and normal elastic group(n=93,PWVI<0).Gender,total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein(HDL),low density lipoprotein(LDL),fasting blood glucose and smoking history of the two groups were compared with each other, and there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The increase of PWVI were positively correlated with TC(r=0.251,P=0.006),LDL(r=0.401,P<0.01)levels,and HDL(r=-0.247,P<0.01)level was negatively correlated. Conclusion The detection of arterial elasticity index PWV-ES and its calculated PWVI based on ufPWV technique can be used as a non-invasive and reliable method to evaluate the progression of atherosclerotic elastic decline in hypertensive patients.
