Abstract: OBJECTIVE To evaluate the theory and skill level of parasitic disease prevention and control among the city's para-sitic disease prevention and control personnel through skill competition, and to provide scientific basis for putting forward targeted improvement measures.METHODS In September 2022,a total of 72 medical and health professionals from 12 counties, districts and municipal medical and health units in the city were organized to participate in a skills competition to investigate the theoretical knowledge and skills of the participants in the prevention and control of parasitic diseases, and analyze the differences in the compe-tition results of different genders, ages, professional titles and professions.RESULTS The overall average score of all participants was(122.37±26.82).The average score of the written test was(65.95±12.35),with a minimum of 28.5 points and a maximum of 87.5 points. The pass rate was 70.83%.The average score for the operation is(55.64±20.30),with a minimum of 11.30 points and a maximum of 99.00 points. The pass rate was 41.67%.The average score for blood film production was(8.92±0.93),and the pass rate was 98.61%.The average score of Kato tablet production was(8.46±1.12),and the pass rate was 95.83%.The average score of plasmodium microscopic examination was(18.44±10.72),and the pass rate was 37.50%.The average score of worm egg micro-scopic examination was(20.58±10.59),and the pass rate was 41.67%.The theoretical and personal comprehensive scores of inter-mediate and above personnel were better than those of junior personnel(t=-2.74,-2.49,P<0.05),and the blood smear production, worm egg microscopy examination, and personal comprehensive scores of laboratory personnel were higher than those of prevention and treatment personnel and clinical doctors(F=5.05,5.47,3.78,P<0.05).CONCLUSION Parasitic disease prevention and control personnel have imbalanced technical abilities, high levels of theoretical knowledge, and weak skills, especially in microscopic exami-nation.Further strengthening of skill training is needed, with a focus on improving the professional personnel's ability to perform microscopic examinations.
