Abstract: In recent years, botulinum toxin type A(BTXA)has garnered extensive discussion and attention in the treatment of scars. This review aims to discuss the application and research of BTXA in the prevention and treatment of various types of scars by domestic and international scholars over the past five years.Among them,BTXA is most commonly used for postoperative scars, with early postoperative and higher dosage injections achieving better efficacy.BTXA shows certain therapeutic potential for keloids and hypertrophic scars, and combining it with other treatments can achieve better outcomes. It is most often combined with local corticosteroid injections, microneedling, fractional carbon dioxide laser, and photodynamic therapy.Overall,BTXA demonstrates good efficacy for various types of scars with few adverse reactions, but its mechanism of action remains unclear and requires further research.
