Abstract: Objective:To explore the effect of hyperbaric oxygen combined with huperzine A in the adjuvant therapy of modified electroconvulsive therapy(MECT)in patients with schizophrenia. Methods:A total of 80 patients with schizophrenia received MECT in Zhumadian Second People's Hospital from March 2019 to April 2022 were prospectively selected as study subjects, and divided into observation group(48 cases, hyperbaric oxygen combined with huperzine A treatment)and control group(32 cases, huperzine A treatment)by the random number table method. Symptom improvement,short-term memory, and stress response related indexes were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the scores of positive symptoms in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the scores of visual recognition, picture recall, associative learning, and recitation in short-term memory were higher than those in the control group, and the levels of glutathione peroxidase 1(GPX1),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and nitric oxide(NO)were lower than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant( P<0.05). Conclusion:Hyperbaric oxygen combined with huperzine A has a positive effect on short-term memory in patients with schizophrenia after MECT,and helps to reduce stress response and improve clinical symptoms.
